In business today, it is essential to be online, and if you have a regular blog attached to your site, even better! You are now two steps ahead of your competition. But do you need to build a better blog?
Could your blog be burning your business? Could it be driving business away instead of bringing business in? Here are 3 blogging tips which may help your business go from gloom to boom in the online world.
1. Focus on Your Customers – You are probably blogging about all the right things. New products that are coming out, your fantastic sales report for the month or discounts you are offering to loyal customers. Great stuff! But what about blogging about customers?
Statistics tell us that in the last 6 years, the number of active mobile broadband subscriptions worldwide, rose from 73 million to over one billion. That’s a lot of people who have the potential to read about your business if you do a customer case study or customer story they are featured in it.
For instance, if you are a wedding cake supplier, you could do a story about a customer who is buying an unusually designed wedding cake for their wedding. Send them an email thanking them and link to your blog. You can be sure that they will be so delighted, they will share the story with their social media friends who will remember your name and spread the word whenever someone is talking weddings.
2. Regular, Updated Original Content – Google loves original content and can tell the difference. You don’t want to rank low down just because you tried to be cheap, and bought spun content for a few dollars online. If you don’t have time to blog, engage a professional blogger who can do the job for you and do it well. It will be worth the money in the end.
3. Get Your Staff Blogging – Who better knows your business than the people who work for you! Set up a blogging schedule and ask some of your employees to create content for you once a month. You may have an employee who has writing aspirations or their own blog outside of work. If you offer a bio and link back to their own work, it would be a win-win situation.
4. Send Content Our Regularly – Make sure you blog regularly. Whether it be once a day, week or month. Regular followers will be expecting your blog if you set aside a regular time/day to send out your post. Also be sure to include it in any newsletter or emails you send out.
5. Some SEO is better than no SEO – We all want good SEO content in our blog so that Google will rank us at the top. There are a lot of people who pay top dollar to get their blogs noticed. You don’t have to pay top dollar, but you should have some idea of SEO strategies so that you are ranking highly. Using a good plug in like YOAST will help you understand SEO better and the more you do it, the better you will get.
